About Us

Bonga Na Gava is a SUSO participation tool that facilitates youth and communities to formally present their views to the government on proposed government policies and regulations on biodiversity protection and climate change & the issues that are critical today and fundamental for our future.

The constitution of Kenya requires the government to consult with citizens before adopting new policies, laws and regulations and to take citizen comments into account. Bonga Na Gava aims to help youth and communities to participate effectively by sharing analysis, on any particular draft policy, proposed law or regulatory reform to youth and communities across the country to spur and inform their thinking and help them quickly write and submit comments to the relevant government agency.

Through this tool, we aim to amplify the voice of the youth and communities in government decision-making as if we do not take an active role in shaping the future we want right from decision making stages, chances are that our dreams may not have a tomorrow.

Our future needs nature. Nature needs a livable climate and climate cannot be protected without the forests, savannas and oceans.

We want a biodiversity legacy for our nation & not a catastrophe, and a livable climate for our future, but we are heading for a catastrophe. Therefore as youth we are playing an active role to secure a nature positive 2030 and work towards a 2050 where everyone benefits from biodiversity, and we are living in harmony with nature.

Policy Reviews

civic education citizen engagement and public participation policy 2026

Well, here's the deal: The Nairobi City County Government is actually writing a new rulebook on how they should engage with residents (officially called the Civic Education, Citizen Engagement and Public Participation Policy 2026). Wildlife Conservation & Management Bill 2025

The Wildlife Conservation and Management Bill 2025 is a transformative piece of legislation that seeks to redefine how Kenya manages and protects its wildlife. Unlike an amendment, this is a comprehensive new law aimed at replacing the existing Wildlife Act to better reflect the needs of the country today and in the future.

The Forest Conservation & Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025

Bill No. 38 of 2025, officially the National Assembly Bill No. 38 of 2025, was read for the first time and referred to the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry & Mining for consideration.

In line with Standing Order 127(3) of the National Assembly, the Committee is required to facilitate public participation. This means submissions are open again.
